Another rainy day but the Cuckoo has returned to home. I had heard one a little while ago at Hammoon, but not one in Child Okeford. I was sitting in my conservatory after dinner and there he was on the electric wires near my house! I opened the door and sure enough I had heard right. He went towards Bere Marsh still cuckooing so hopefully he is here to stay until July.

I’m seeing more wild flowers out in bloom now:

• Herb Robert
• Groundsel
• Vetch (not sure which one yet!)
• Common Speedwell
