I was really pleased to see this rare form of a female Meadow Grasshopper when I was taking our dogs down the lane on the 29th August. The pink colouring is a genetic mutation known as erythrism. They are easy to spot by predators so they are very vunerable. They make up about 1% of the Meadow Grasshopper population.
A few days later the lane was cut so if she hasn’t been eaten she may not have survived the cutting!
